City of Austin warns active construction sites to prepare for severe weather

AUSTIN, Texas — A strong cold front moving in Thursday evening is expected to bring the potential for severe weather, including very high wind gusts. Ahead of the front, the City of Austin‘s Developmental Services Department is asking construction workers to make their sites are prepared for the weather.

The City is asking that appropriate erosion and sediment control measures are working as intended to allow for proper drainage of rainwater and to help reduce risks from possible flooding. The City also asks that all construction materials and equipment that could be affected by high winds are properly secured.

“It is important that we work together to help protect our community and the City’s infrastructure,” the department said. “These proactive measures can help protect public safety and ensure the City’s drainage system continues to perform correctly.
