Weather: More flooding possible across Houston area this week

Parts of Montgomery and Harris County will be under a minor flood warning through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service says the area of concern is specifically along Sendera Ranch Road near Humble.

Some of the stream gauges are currently in the flood stage, or near the flood stage. The following creeks are being closely looked at this afternoon when more rain is expected: Spring Creek, Little Cypress Creek, Mountain Creek, Little Mountain Creek, Three Mile Creek and Mill Creek.

“We should have additional showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon. And that can cause additional rises on the streams that are already elevated due to the previous rainfall,” says Cameron Babtiste, meteorologist, National Weather Service.

There is currently just a slight risk of excessive rainfall today, after several inches dropped over the weekend.

Another half inch, to an inch of rain is expected across the region today, and those chances increase as you go out further west.

“I’m not sure there’s actually any water over the roadways, but the the streams are elevated enough where it’s a potential threat,” Babtiste says.

Rain is in the forecast for the first four days of this week, with chances decreasing steadily as we get closer to Friday.

Temperatures are expected to rise as the week moves forward, with highs expected to reach into the 90’s both Thursday and Friday.
