CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today and Thursday:
Today and Thursday are days to remain weather aware. Excessive rainfall ongoing across the area could cause flash flood conditions. The onset of flooding can happen suddenly especially for communities near rivers, creeks, lakes and streams.
Look for periods of rain and a few thunderstorms over the next several days. Rain can be heavy at times with the possibility of flash flood. Use caution in low-lying areas prone to flooding from heavy rain events. Rainfall totals over the next several days could reach seven inches and isolated higher amounts.
Friday-Sunday:
Rain chances will spill over into Friday and Saturday. However, the coverage should be more scattered in nature instead of widespread. A slight chance for rain on Saturday. Meanwhile, temperatures will return to the mid 80s this weekend.
Tropical Update:
Tropical Storm Brett is east of the southern Windward Islands. It has sustained winds at 45 mph and is moving west at 18 mph. Within the next few days, it’s expected to become a hurricane.
There is another wave behind that which has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression— around 70% over the next seven days.
