Airlie Gardens, Arboretum, Cape Fear Museum closed due to storm damage

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Several parks and attractions in New Hanover county are closed to the public due to damage from Hurricane Florence.
Airlie Garden will remain closed until further notice, while trees are cleared and the grounds cleaned up. Airlie Gardens posted on social media that the Airlie Oak, Bottle Chapel, Pergola, and Butterfly House were fine, but the rest of the gardens have significant damage.

The Arboretum is closed to allow for cleanup and repairs. The plant clinic and gift shop will open Monday. At the Arboretum, a number of large trees came down. The Arboretum told us their entire tree canopy has changed. Staff is working to triage and salvage some of the trees.
Art in the Arboretum has been rescheduled to November 2, 3, and 4. The garden will officially open to the public on November 5.
The Cape Fear Museum will remain closed until further notice for remediation.

- Roland Grise Baseball Field
The county’s free day, which typically takes place on the first Sunday of each month, is canceled for October 7
