Forecast: Widespread rain brings flooding concerns through Wednesday

AUSTIN, Texas — *A Flood Advisory is in effect for Milam County through 6 p.m. on Tuesday*
*A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for all of Central Texas through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Visibilities below 1/4 mile are possible.*

Another round of heavy showers and storms will be possible today as the KVUE Weather Team continues to monitor the potential for flash flooding throughout Central Texas.

Scattered showers started moving in late last night and will continue to grow widespread throughout the late morning and early afternoon hours. Most of the region will be under a level 2 out of 4, “slight risk” for excessive rainfall, as rounds of rain add to our flooding concerns throughout Tuesday. We could pick up another 1-3 inches, on top of the 2-5 inches Austin received on Monday. 

Tuesday, Central Texas will also be under a level 1 out 5, “marginal risk for severe weather due to the possibility of strong winds, hail, or a brief isolated tornado within storms that arise throughout the day. Tuesday evening there should be another break in significant rains, as we await another incoming stream of moisture for Wednesday morning. 

Wednesday’s rains will favor the Coastal Plain and areas east of I-35 throughout the day, of course increasing flood potential there once again. 

Thursday is drier, and a minor cold front on Friday could bring some sprinkles as we head into our last weekend of January.
