Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains deploy to Wilkes County after EF-1 tornado rips through the area
The Billy Graham response heads to Wilkesboro after a tornado swept through areas of the town.
WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — As Wilkes County deals with the aftermath of the EF-1 tornado that struck multiple areas with winds reaching 105 to 110 mph, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT ) is on its way.
“Spring is a peak time for tornadoes to occur in North Carolina, and yet they always catch us off-guard,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT. “Wilkesboro is in our backyard. Those affected are our neighbors. We are honored to be able to serve them and show them the love of Christ through this difficult time. Our chaplains will be in Wilkesboro to provide emotional and spiritual support in the community.”
BG-RRT and Samaritan’s Purse will aid those impacted by the storm.
The response team’s chaplains will offer emotional and spiritual assistance in three locations. Chaplains have also been sent to Slidell, Louisiana, where another tornado touched down earlier in the week.
Chaplains are offering emotional and spiritual support to families who have fled their homes due to the conflict in Ukraine, providing them with hope and comfort.
