'I am so sorry, but we will do it again' Donald Trump calls off Wilmington rally due to severe weather
One day, after the jury was seated in his New York hush money trial, former President Donald Trump was scheduled to address a campaign rally in Wilmington on Saturday night.
However, due to severe weather, the event was abruptly canceled just 25 minutes before Trump was set to step onto the stage.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your favorite president of all time,” Trump said.
Postponing his first rally in North Carolina since the start of his historic criminal trial.
“They have asked us to ask people to leave the site and seek shelter,” Trump said.
A message causing crowds to spit from storms.
“It is going to be historical — well, it was going to be historical,” Bob and Nicole Tempestilli, Rally-goers said.
The former president pledged to reschedule his rally in Wilmington at the same location at a different time.
“I am so sorry, but we will do it again, and you have my promise,” Trump said.
Bob and Nicole Tempestilli traveled here from New York.
“We are so disappointed we won’t get to see him tonight. We waited for four hours — five hours at least,” Bob and Nicole Tempestilli said. “But judging by the sky, It’s probably best that they canceled it.”
As of right now, there is no date announced as to when the rally could be rescheduled,
Trump rally was suppose to take place in Wilmington at the Aero Center on 1830 Flightline Road, according to his campaign. The Aero Center has hangar space for private planes at the Wilmington International Airport.
Trump appeared in court on Monday on charges he falsified business records to hide hush money payments to keep secret stories about his sex life before the 2016 election.
The court appearance ended without a jury being selected.
Trump won the North Carolina GOP presidential primary on March 5 and has carried the state in each of his two previous bids for president in 2016 and 2020. He held a rally in Greensboro on Feb. 26.
A WRAL News poll in March showed Trump with a lead over President Joe Biden in North Carolina. Another poll found the pair in a dead heat.
