Highway 90 reopens over Trinity River after being shut down for flooding
LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — Highway 90 over the Trinity River in Liberty County was reopening Tuesday after being shut down because of high water.
The bridge, which links Dayton to Trinity was closed after TxDOT deemed it to be unsafe to drive over.
Even with it reopening, Liberty ISD officials stuck with their decision to keep school closed Wednesday and Thursday.
The highway down Monday when it was covered with water — up to 2 feet in some places, according to TxDOT. Officials said the floodwaters flowing under the bridge also factored into their decision to shut it down.
It you don’t want to take Highway 90. you can still get around it. If you’re coming from Dayton, take SH 321 north to SH 105. At 105, head east to SH 146. From there, head south to US 90 in Liberty.
For those coming from Liberty, take SH 146 north to SH 105. At SH 105, drivers should head west to SH 321. Then at SH 321, drivers go south to U.S. 90.
