CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There is a chance for two rounds of strong/severe thunderstorms. The first will be this afternoon (which will be the highest threat) and again after midnight.
Today
The atmosphere is primed right now. Highs will be near 90 degrees, dew points approaching the muggy range and a trough to lift it up. This is why the storm prediction center upgraded our area to a high threat for damaging winds. There will be some shear as well which will likely lead to a supercell or two, which could lead to some very large hail and even a tornado.
Round two will be a strong line of of bowing thunderstorms. This will lead to a widespread wind damage chance but the good news, overnight is a more stable time, so this line should be weakening.
Thursday
Rain is likely tomorrow morning but this line should be flying. There is a low risk for a few thunderstorms later in the day, but likely we are staying dry for Day 1 of the tournament.
Friday
Look for a mix of clouds and sunshine with afternoon temperatures in the mid 70s. There could be a few showers and thunderstorms.
This Weekend
Saturday and Sunday will be amazing! Less humid and in the mid 70s. Perfect for golf and mothers.
